Welcome to the 2024/2025 year. We are focusing on Ecology this year and have many activities planned for a great year of fun and learning. The team looks forward to old friends and new wardens. Don't be shy, dive in head first and have fun.

Watch your email Sunday night for the adventure of the week!
Plans can change at the last moment.
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR EMAIL WEDNESDAY - incase their is a last minute update.
EVERY NIGHT there is a chance we may go outside! Even if it is for a few minutes. We need your child to be warm so they can have fun. Hat, mitts, snow pants, rubber boots, parka, rain jacket...whatever the weather - dress well!
We ask that you bring a flashlight/headlamp or other source of light for your Wardens. As well we ask they have a whistle on a lanyard or attached to their jacket for all outdoor adventures. They will love it and it will keep them safe.
Another useful tool that I would suggest is a backpack. In the back pack it s good idea to have a water bottle, snack, extra socks, rain gear, and mitts. This way everything is easily within reach, plus it is a good way to take any goodies home with you that we may create together.
Leaders appreciate parent involvement for many reasons. As we are all volunteers and are learning weekly, we welcome any knowledge contribution parents can provide during discussions at our weekly meetings. There will be a general skeleton of lesson plans for the year. If you feel you can contribute to knowledge and application of Ecology principles, please do not hesitate to approach your leaders.
Conversely, it is an opportunity for some parents (like myself) to learn about the club and program information.
As many of our activities are hands on, they require some set up and definitely some clean up after words and many hands make light work. Help with supervision and crowd control are always welcome.
The wardens will have to bring some equipment to certain meetings. This will be on the yearly schedule on the website, and there will be verbal reminders. It is very difficult to teach a group when half the group is not prepared with the requirements for the lesson plans.
Parents are encouraged (we will be flat out asking you) to participate alongside your children in our weekly activities and prompt wardens to come up with observations and questions, because this is our main goal, encouraging active thinking, not "feed me with a spoon" attitude.
For our new members, returning wardens and parents, the first award we will be working towards is your Bronze Badge. You must earn this badge before you can receive any of the other Program Badges. We will be looking at some basic JFW information in order to get your Bronze Badge. You will be receiving resources for this as well as any leaders or other group members can give you. Let us know. A great way to learn is threw some cheat sheets we will handing out. A great place to ask questions is driving down the road. Challenge your warden to see who can get there Bronze Badge First. Will it be Mom & Dad or your Trailbalzer.
We have lots planned for this year.
