This Year's Pillar:
Woodstravel/Outdoor Skills & Leadership
Leaders:
Jennine Baughman
"I was a Red Deer Woodchucks member as a kid from 1997 to 2007. Last year my son joined the club as a second year Trailblazer. This is my first year as a leader, but I look forward to sharing what I know and learning from all the youth! I am in my final year of university at RDP where I'm taking a Bachelor's degree in biology. I have always loved the natural world and outdoor activities, and I think I owe that in large part to growing up in this club."
Lynn Wright
"Our family has been in the club since 2019. My daughter is currently an Adventurer and this is my first year as a leader. I look forward to the year ahead!"
Expectations:
Wear your red Warden shirt to every meeting unless instructed otherwise. Attendance it taken both on being present and being in proper uniform. (This includes having your shirt and lanyard on and shirt tucked in.)
There is always a chance that we will be outside for a meeting. Always come to meetings prepared for the elements, no matter the activity.
Bring your backpack with you to every meeting. Your pack should include:
water
whistle
knife
first-aid kit
headlamp
extra socks
fire-starting equipment (minimum one form each of starter and fuel item (such as matches+Vaseline or flint and steel+homemade fire kisses etc)
work gloves
extra socks

Random backpack checks will be done periodically to ensure you have the proper gear with you, so be prepared every meeting!
Try your best; some activities are new and/or hard. Do what you can and give it your all!
Be respectful to your peers, your leaders, and yourselves.
